According to Maryland State Police, Jackson, 24, was one of three fatalities after a midnight three-car collision in Prince George’s County.
In a statement, the Vikings said they had spoken with Jackson’s family and were “devastated by the news.”
In the statement, Vikings general manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah added, “I am heartbroken by the loss of Khyree.” “Khyree’s aspirations, both personally and professionally, became evident as we got to know him during the pre-draft process. His was a resilient story.

The Vikings selected Jackson in the fourth round of the 2024 NFL Draft. After spending two years as a player for Alabama, he played one season as a starting cornerback for Oregon to round out his collegiate career.
Dan Lanning, the head football coach at Oregon, honored Jackson on social media, writing, “I will miss your smile.” Better person than a great athlete, he wrote on X.
When the team’s training camp opens in Eagan, Minnesota later this month, Jackson was vying for a spot as the starting cornerback.
“I don’t know what to say. The message read, “My heart goes out to Khyree’s family, friends, teammates, and coaches,” according to Vikings coach Kevin O’Connell.
Jackson passed away there, according to the police. Isaiah Hazel, 23, and Anthony Lytton, Jr., 24, were the other victims.
Lytton played collegiate football at Florida State and Penn State, while Hazel played at Maryland and Charlotte.

When the collision occurred, they were both riding in the same car. According to investigators, Lytton and Jackson were riding along with Hazel behind the wheel.
When they impacted Hazel’s car and a third vehicle, investigators believe the driver of the second automobile, which was heading north, attempted to change lanes “at a high rate of speed.” In the second or third car, nobody was hurt.
Barring “the investigation and consultation with the Prince George’s County State’s Attorney’s Office,” charges are pending, according to investigators who believe alcohol may have played a role in the collision.
