When the team’s training camp opens in Eagan, Minnesota later this month, Jackson was vying for a spot as the starting cornerback.


“I don’t know what to say. The message read, “My heart goes out to Khyree’s family, friends, teammates, and coaches,” according to Vikings coach Kevin O’Connell.

Jackson passed away there, according to the police. Isaiah Hazel, 23, and Anthony Lytton, Jr., 24, were the other victims.

Lytton played collegiate football at Florida State and Penn State, while Hazel played at Maryland and Charlotte.

When they impacted Hazel’s car and a third vehicle, investigators believe the driver of the second automobile, which was heading north, attempted to change lanes “at a high rate of speed.” In the second or third car, nobody was hurt.

Barring “the investigation and consultation with the Prince George’s County State’s Attorney’s Office,” charges are pending, according to investigators who believe alcohol may have played a role in the collision.
