Guard Xavier Newman of the New York Jets was dragged off the field and sent to a hospital due to a neck injury he suffered at Acrisure Stadium. On Sunday night, he was expected to board a plane back with the team.
Newman was examined thoroughly in a hospital in the Pittsburgh region.
“Thank God, his test results were negative,” said Jeff Ulbrich, the Jets’ interim coach. “Huge relief from that.”
During an interception return in the third quarter against the Pittsburgh Steelers, Newman sustained injuries. Linebacker Patrick struck the 6-foot-2, 297-pound guard, knocking him off his feet. Queen, who was blocking on the return.
Newman landed on his back and remained motionless for several minutes before being secured to a spine board.

Concerned players knelt around Newman as he received medical treatment. NBC Sports stated that Newman was transported by paramedics and that his limbs were moving.
Newman is a reserve, but he replaced Alijah Vera-Tucker, who departed the game in the second quarter due to an ankle injury.
The Steelers defeated the Jets 37-15.
