The Israel-Hamas conflict is over one month old. Talks to free the hostages held by the terrorist group appear to be on hold, and Israeli soldiers are still making incursions into the southern Gazan town of Rafah in preparation for a potential large-scale assault.
47 killed in Central Gaza amid Israeli raid to rescue hostages
The Gaza Health Ministry, which is under the control of Hamas, reports that during continuous Israeli raids on Nuseirat on Saturday at least 47 Palestinians were killed and several others were injured in Central Gaza.
Ambulance and civil defence personnel are unable to reach a number of casualties who are still under the debris and on the roads.
“The occupation forces penetrating into the Central Governorate are committing a massacre against citizens in the Nuseirat camp, as a result of which many martyrs and wounded were transported to Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital,” according to the Health Ministry.
At least 36,801 Palestinians have been killed and 83,680 have been wounded since Oct. 7, according to the Gaza Health Ministry. Videos obtained by ABC News from the hospital show dozens of people being brought in and lining the floors of the Al Aqsa Martyrs Hospital.
Israel says it rescued 4 hostages
Israel announced on Saturday that it had freed four captives who were still alive from two sites in the center of Nuseirat, Gaza.
The Israel Defense Forces said that on October 7, at the ‘Nova’ music festival, Hamas abducted Noa Argamani, 25, Almog Meir Jan, 21, Andrey Kozlov, 27, and Shlomi Ziv, 40.
Following a morning of bombardment in Central Gaza, the rescues take place. Videos from Al Aqsa Martyrs Hospital, the sole operational hospital in the area, show scores of people in the emergency room.
Although they do not yet know the exact number of individuals killed and injured in the attack, Hamas described it as a “unprecedented brutal attack” and claimed there were “dozens of martyrs and wounded in the streets”.
The ‘Sheba’ Tel-HaShomer Medical Center now houses the freed hostages.
40 killed, dozens injured in Israeli strike on UNRWA school
The Israeli attack on a UNRWA school at the Nuseirat Refugee Camp resulted in at least 40 fatalities, including 14 children, and at least 74 injuries, according to the Gaza Ministry of Health on Thursday.
IDF spokesman Daniel Hagari stated during a press briefing on Thursday that Israeli officials have stated that the strike was intended to target terrorists “hiding inside the school,” specifically Hamas and Islamic Jihad.
In a statement, United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres criticized the strike on the school, which the UN claimed housed approximately 6,000 internally displaced people.
A representative for Guterres stated, “He emphasizes that UN premises are inviolable, even during armed conflict, and must be protected at all times by all parties.
The Secretary-General urges all parties to respect and protect civilians while meeting their basic requirements in accordance with international humanitarian law.”
Bomb fragments at UN school consistent with US-made weapon
According to three munitions experts who spoke with ABC News, a weapon used in an attack on a UNRWA school accommodating displaced persons on June 6 appeared to be American-made.
On June 6, video of weapon pieces was recorded by journalist Emad Abu Shawiesh at the UNRWA al Sardi school building in Nuseirat Gaza.

It also appears like the GBU-39 was used in a lethal strike that took place in Rafah, Gaza, on May 26, according to Ball and another munitions specialist who asked not to be named because the matter is so sensitive.
The picture appears to depict the remains of a GBU-39, according to Mark Hiznay, associate director of Human Rights Watch’s Crisis, Conflict, and Arms Division.
