Powell made the trailer’s official debut on ESPN’s College GameDay on Saturday. In Chad Powers, Powell plays Russ Holliday, a hotshot quarterback who ruined his playing career after making an unforgivable, egotistical error in a college football championship game.
The film is produced by a former NFL quarterback, Eli and peyton manning, who are now ESPN personalities
Eight years later, using the alias Chad Powers and a lot of makeup and prosthetics, he looks for atonement.
Are there open tryouts in South Georgia? At one point in the trailer, Powell declares, “I’m going to do a Mrs. Doubtfire, but with football” (see below).
On September 30, two episodes of Chad Powers will make their Hulu debut. For the next four weeks, new episodes will be available for streaming on Tuesdays.
The show’s genesis can be found in a 2022 sketch featuring Eli Manning, who donned prosthetics and went to an open tryout at Penn State.

The camera crew documented the players’ and spectators’ shock. For this week’s cover story, Eli Manning and Powell discussed the creation of the show with The Hollywood Reporter.
“The audience knew Eli Manning was wearing [the disguise], which is what made Eli’s thing so magical.” Powell told THR, “So, let’s use the lie at the heart of this thing, which creates inherent fun conflict over the course of the series.”
“We were like, ‘OK, we’re going to Tootsie this thing. Let’s see how far we can push this lie by having Mrs. Doubtfire it.
