US Revokes Visas of Palestinian Officials Ahead of UNGA

Ahead of the next United Nations General Assembly, Secretary of State Marco Rubio is refusing and rescinding visas for members of the Palestinian Authority (PA) and Palestine Liberation Organisation (PLO) in compliance with U.S. law.

The Trump Administration has made it clear that holding the PLO and PA responsible for their failure to fulfil their promises and for sabotaging peace efforts is in our national security interest.

As mandated by U.S. law and as pledged by the PLO, the PLO and PA must continuously denounce terrorism, including the October 7 massacre, and put an end to incitement to terrorism in schools before they can be regarded as peace partners.

The PA must also stop attempting to circumvent negotiations by securing the unilateral recognition of a hypothetical Palestinian state and by launching international lawfare campaigns, such as appeals to the ICC and ICJ.

Both actions played a significant role in the collapse of the ceasefire negotiations in Gaza and Hamas’s refusal to free its hostages.

In accordance with the UN Headquarters Agreement, waivers will be granted to the PA Mission to the UN. If the PA/PLO fulfils their commitments and demonstrates that they are taking proactive measures to resume a constructive path of compromise and peaceful coexistence with the State of Israel, the United States is still open to re-engagement that complies with our laws.
